WCC 사우카 총무 대행, 故 조용기 목사 추모 메시지

세계교회협의회(WCC) 요한 사우카(Ioan Sauca) 총무 대행이 故 조용기 목사를 추모하는 메시지를 15일 여의도순복음교회 측에 보내왔다.

사우카 대행은 “조용기 목사의 별세 소식을 듣고 큰 슬픔을 느낀다. WCC를 대표해 유족과 여의도순복음교회 교인들에게 깊은 애도와 기도의 마음을 전한다”고 했다.

그는 “부산에서 열렸던 WCC 제10차 총회에 대한 그의 기여와 지지에 감사를 표한다”며 “우리는 또한 그가 그의 교회 교인들이 부산 총회에 참석하도록 격려해 준 것에 깊이 감사한다”고 전했다.

사우카 대행은 “우리는 조용기 목사의 삶과 증거에 대해 하나님께 감사한다. 그리고 유족과 여의도순복음교회에 진심으로 애도를 표한다”고 했다.

아울러 “생명과 부활의 주님께서 그의 신실하고 사랑하는 종인 조용기 목사에게 안식을 주시기를 바란다. 또한 우리에게 은혜를 내리셔서 고통과 슬픔, 죽음 속에서도 위로와 희망, 부활을 찾게 해주시기를 바란다”고 전했다. 아래는 메시지 전문.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

It is with great sadness that we have received the news of demise of Rev. Cho Yong-gi, founder and emeritus pastor at Yoido Full Gospel Church. On behalf of the World Council of Churches (WCC), I express my deep sorrow and prayers in support of both his bereaved family and all members of Yoido Full Gospel Church.

As we mourn his passing away, we give thanks to his contribution and support to the 10th WCC Assembly which took place in Busan, Republic of Korea. We also deeply appreciate that he encouraged his church members to fully participate in the Busan Assembly.

We thank God for the life and witness of Rev. Cho Yong-gi and we offer our heartfelt condolences to his bereaved family and Yoido Full Gospel Church.

May our common Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of life and resurrection, give rest to his faithful and beloved servant Rev. Cho Yong-gi. May God also grant us grace, that in pain we may find comfort, in sorrow hope, in death resurrection.
